Hi everyone,I’m new to the site and want to say hi to all you river guys.I look forward to the site,it looks very nice.I’m fishing the Iowa GNWC division this year.I have a tourney on the Miss. at Prairie Du Chein(sp?) on June 22nd.The only river eye fishing I have done is on the Red River in the fall.Alot of vertical jigging or we pull cranks.Anyone have any tips for this time of year? Also what pool would this be,9 or 10?

    Hey Ryan,

The pool that PdC sits on is Pool 10. I have some copies of the Hot Spots maps they used to make to help you along. I did reply to your post in the trip swap forum and would be glad to help you out around our pool. I see you like to pull cranks and do some vertical jigging. How about hand lining? This method kicks butt for me in the summer months. If you have any other questions for me feel free to ask.

Dave thanks so much for the reply.Guess what?I’ve never hand-lined or see it done before!!!I would have no idea what to do.It would be neat to see how it works.
I do find it hard to believe my post was looked at 93 times and your the only person to offer help.I wasn’t asking for spots, just techniques for this time of year.Dave thanks so much for your time and help.

    Hey Ryan!

Many people aren’t registered for this site and can’t post. Many are looking for information too. With a subject line like yours, it draws many people that are looking for this info. Because this sites members are all up and down the river, many have no clue as to what tips to give you (like me,)

But, one tip I know for sure is that you are in the best hands for that stretch of river. Although I’ve never met ecnook, I’ve read many of his posts and he has gained my respect as a knowlagable and respected guide.

One question for Ecnook, what is hand lining? It sounds like you should be wearing gloves when you’re doing this?!

    The Art of Hand Lining

    Enjoy !!

Brian thanks for the reply.I guess I really don’t understand the Miss. river that well.I thought the same presentations would work all up and down the river.
Dave that is a good article on hand-lining.It sounds like a very neat thing to watch,Have you ever had problems with hand or finger injuries?Take care.

Ecnook, How can I get a copy of a Hotspots map on Pool 10? I can never find one on Pool 10, even the Hotspots catalog does not show one to order.

One question for you Dave. Where did you get the hand lining reel? Thanks for your help.

Hutch is the the guy I got them from. I own two sets.Hutch specializes in hand lining. If you were to give him a call and set up a personal visit I am positive he would spend some time with you, going over some basic do’s and dont’s of hand lining.Better yet,set up a guide trip with him,,,There is a lot more to it than just purchasing a set-up.Please feel free to shoot me any more questions and I’ll be glad to help.If your ever in the area and I’m free I’d be glad to show you how it works on the river.
