I fished it last year for opener. Saturday I did pretty well up on the NE end of the lake out in front of Fishers resort. It was a complete zoo and there was pretty much solid ring of boats all the way around the lake. I was jig fishing with shiners and having pretty good success, a lot of people were lindy rigging and that seemed to be working as well. Saturday I fished in the pack because that is where the fish were. Sun was a different story the boats were in the same places as Saturday but the fish weren’t. I moved out further away from the packs of boats and started looking for anything that was different like humps, dips or bottom content changes. I concentrated just out from places I knew the fish were on Sat figuring that the boat traffic had pushed them out of those places. After working a few spots with no luck I found a small hump about 1/4-1/3 mile from a huge pack of boats and we started catching fish just about every pass. Boats would drive by looking at me then looking at their graph just shaking their head, they all thought I was out in the middle of no where. It was good enough fishing that the 3 of us agreed that we wouldn’t set the hook if a boat was close by and we didn’t wave the net around so I had the hump to myself all afternoon and we had a blast.
I will most likely be up there on Sunday I am co-angling the RCL league event on pool 3 Sat. If you have a VHF give me a shout I go by Buckshot and will be on channel 10.
    Good luck

There is a Mille Lacs Lake forum at FTL. I am sure if you put a post there you will get many more responses.

    Good luck!
