Decided to ignore the crowds sunday on pool 4 and headed to pool 5. Didnt know much about the area but was just over there with the neighbor to get some eaters for fish fry. Decided to work the Dam area and started out jigging plastics with little success. We the talked to a fellow angler who said they were holding tight to the bottom so i changed to a different set up a 1 oz bell sinker and a plain hook on one rod with a floater ont he other. The fish were biting consistant but not on fire. LOTS of smaller walleye and sauger with a few nice fish being boated. Kept six 15 inch sauger and walleye. Lots of boats at the damn early but then spreading out downriver. I was going to give trolling 3 ways and cranks a try but didnt find time. So ovreal we caught quite a few fish nothing big at all though. Didnt see anyone boating fish near the dam on plastics but im guessing people work the wing dams and sand flats down river prolly were hitting the bigger eyes. Just baught Dave ‘hoggie’ Hogards Alumacraft on friday the thing is a fish maganet hahaha but ya love the thing if u see me out and about on Pool 4 or 5 stop by and give me a hollar will be up there this friday if I get my turkey by then

So let’s see a post of the new boat……we should know what we’re in for when we see you on the water..
April 14, 2003 at 7:33 pm #264090hey i keep tryin to make the pic smaller cause it says its to big but how do i do that?
April 14, 2003 at 9:30 pm #264099what I usually do is save it as a 640 x 480 jpeg file in normal or basic format… there should be a “resize” or “photo size” option in your photo editing package… when you have resized it check properties on the photo and see if the size is under 1000k then it will work….
April 15, 2003 at 1:23 am #264132Here is one of the eaters that we caught early…because like i said we caught plenty of fish but nothin real big up near the dam

April 18, 2003 at 4:38 pm #264533Frank,
for now I will have to get by with my 40 Evinrude off my old Rebel, I will trade up in a year or two to a 90 something. Have not decided what motor to go with yet. If nothing else I should be able to troll good with itApril 18, 2003 at 7:39 pm #264550All this talk of new boats is getting me excited about my new one. I just need to get rid of my current boat. Gettng a 16′ mirrocraft jon with a 50 on the back.
April 18, 2003 at 8:08 pm #264554That’ll be a sweet rig…and yes, it should troll great! Your model has tons of room inside and I’m sure you’ll love the ride. Great color too…my Fisherman is green just like yours.
April 18, 2003 at 10:59 pm #264563I do not know if you can tell from the pic or not, it is a 1997 1650 Angler, yes lots of room and plenty of storage. I have been looking for one for a long time, they stopped making this model in 1999 so it was like finding a needle in a hay stack. A guy from Iowa bought it new from Smitty’s, he had it two days when someone stoled it. They striped everything they could off the boat, motor, seats, even cut the gauges out of the dash and the throttle. The boat has never been in the water so the outside is like new, the inside needs some cleaning but it should clean up fine.
April 19, 2003 at 1:22 am #264569One of my fishing buddies has a 1650 Angler Deluxe, VERY nice boat to fish out of. You did good to find it over at Smittys. That’s where I found my little 1440V Rebel last December, 2 years old, never been in the water and probably sat in the yard the whole time since it was made. My fishing partner had a 60 Evinrude on his 1650 until the motor siezed up with that middle cylinder problem. He junked it out and bought a new EFI Merc 60 this year, very nice motor so far. He gets about 30-32 mph with it with the 60 or so he says. It feels about right to me although we have not tested it with a GPS. Your 40 should make it a very useable boat until you decide to upgrade. A 90 would make it FLY!
