I made it Sat. for the first time, and so did alot of other people! I decided not to use live bait just plastics. I did not start till 8am, so I got beat to my favorite spots ,I tried on the lock side rip rap nothing, went to Hay creek couple of small fish, then ventered down towords the lake picked up a couple more plus a nice 19″ Sauger,it was fat, let it go, of course I forgot my camera. Was it me or was it slow, I did not see alot of fish being caught, I do believe the fishing pressure was a little high. Saw Bill Cadwell said hi.

Nope, not just you…. Slow for this boat too! And a lot of others I talked to Saturday….at least from Hay Creek to the head of the lake. I did not venture up to the dam, but I guess there was a better bite up there for those who stuck it out.

We switched back and forth between pitching jigs (Rubber and Live Bait) and trolling cranks on 3-ways. Put 3 legal fish in the boat during 8 hours of fishing. Nice day to be out!

The action was not fast and furious, but the fish were there to be had. With all the boats, and wave action, they were a little uneasy at best. We had some very nice fish, all walleyes, with 6 nice fish over 20 inches. There were many white bass taken, with a nice fat carp. All fish were boated using plastics, no meat in the boat, all fish were released. I do have to say that we saw one very large fish taken, probably over 30 inches, unfortunately the angler felt it was better to put it on his stringer, rather to put it back to spawn We later saw the same angler take another large hen, this one also unfortunately got hung on the stinger. I won’t say what the letters were on their boat.!@#$%^&

We had a pretty slow, small fish consistent bite. I think we ended the day with 4 16″ eaters, a few sheepies, and 10 – 12 fish under 15″. I refused to put meat on my hook, the 3″ kalins and 4″ ringworm in the chartruese/whitel were the best producers for me. I had a lot of short bites, but I didn’t feel like trying the stinger hook.

We fished the Hay Creek area pretty hard, then went down to Wisc channel area to finish the day. I didn’t see many boats catching fish, a lot of running and gunning. It was nice to get the first sunburn out of the way for the year though.

Hey Kirt, Nice seeing you again. Fast vs slow? Depends whose boat you were in. Where you saw me I was using plastics mostly and all the keeper fish were on the superdoos. Now if you were watching my son Nate you would like to join me in wanting to pull the plug on his boat [ ]as it was bam bam bam all day long for him. It can only get better as we spend more time on the water. Thanks, Bill
