There’s a normal amount of water running over the Ford dam as of yesterday. The current break area at the tip of the island yielded a 22″, a 22.5″, and a 25.” 1/16 oz. Whistler jigs (with the propeller) and minnows were the ticket, I got no fish from a regular jig. I also tried several ringworm colors with no results. Interestingly I got no little fish at the dam, only those three but I did see nearby anglers catching few 12″ fish. After that I went to the confluence and got a bunch of small walleyes plus a tail hooked 21″.

Thanks for the report Big Northern. Here is a .jpg from the dam water levels. It appears to have rebounded back close to normal levels.

I like those whistler jigs on the Minnesota… that extra vibration caused by the prop calls them in pretty good. Looks like I may have to give them a try on Pool 2!

I like them too. Some buddies and I got to Big Stone every spring, whistler jigs with minnows are our number 1 tactic out there- we use the 1/32 oz. jigs since we are casting to very shallow rocks. You can’t even find the 1/32 jigs with the other jigs in most stores, they keep them with the ice fishing lures but they fall s-l-o-w and the hooks straighten out pretty easily if you do get snagged.
