We got off the fishing report and were talking about the oil on the water. A couple other guys commented about it.
Well I was watching the guys on the barge and this one had a big yellow “garbage” bag and he looked like he started to pour it out between the barges and the tow. But then he stopped and carried it to the back of the barge where there were about 5 more bags. I may have let my imagination run away thinking they would dump garbage maybe they weren’t even garbage bags. But does anybody have any knowledge of their procedures.

Those yellow bags are garbage bags. They also have some writing on them,so they can be traced in case they end up in the river. It’s illegal for them to use any other style.Years ago, they sometimes just”lost”them overboard.

Why the guy was pouring it in the water, who knows?Could have been full of rainwater/cooking oil?A lot of the barge companies stack them by the stern.

Thanks for the feedback I’m sure they are watched pretty close. I have this habit of picking up trash off the water. Well one day I scooped up a bag with my net and here it had brand new red hooks and brass bullett sinkers from cabelas so sometimes it pays to do a good deed.
