the above site is a great place to research whats good for what price range….. there are many good cameras out there…. Ive seen great results with olympus, cannon, panasonic, and mine is fuji….. and really all the modern cameras will take decent pix for internet use…..April 5, 2003 at 6:57 pm #263294I bought a Kodak DX4330 from Dell in dec. it is a 3.1 mpixel, and does a fine job. I paid 275. Jack.
April 5, 2003 at 7:59 pm #263295Last year I bought an Olympus C-700. I bought it because it has a 10X optical zoom, so you can get a good close-up without any pixel distortion. The camera has worked really great for me, but it is kind of pricey at about 500 dollars. I take it out in the boat, tree-stand, and wherever I want it to go, and haven’t had any problems with it yet. (knock on wood). Good luck with whatever you get.
SEDNERBApril 6, 2003 at 3:28 am #263310I did some camera shopping today since my boat was full of snow as I had the cover off as I had been getting it ready to get back on the water. A friend who knows more about them than I do helped me pick out one [Thanks Tom Crowe] and also thanks to Jen [Dustins girlfriend]who gave me some good info the other night when I called to ask Dustin about his camera but he was, where else, fishing. lol. After checking out the internet and a couple stores I ended up ordering from the Best Buy online store a Sony Cyber-shot 3.2 Megapixel Camera DSC-P32. This camera is not in the stores yet. It sells for 20.00 less than the 2.0 megapixel 16 memory stick camera in the store. Paid 229.00 plus shipping. Thanks, Bill

Kevin BudnyApril 6, 2003 at 3:53 pm #263338Has to come to me by mail first. Then I have to be able to post it first as I’m new to this posting pics but there are some great teachers right here on FTR/FTL who have been kind enough to help me. [baby steps, lol. ] Thanks Jon J. and Dave K. We will see how much I can do and also see how much more help I’ll need. I plan on having alot of fun with this camera though. Little, ok not so little, kid with a new toy can be dangerous you know. If you are on the water you better duck as I might be shooting [camera] you! Thanks, Bill
April 6, 2003 at 9:31 pm #263354Bill , I have a Sony DSC-P71 Cyber-shot just like Dustin . Maybe he can give us both lesson on how to operate it .
April 7, 2003 at 12:41 am #263371The cheapest I’ve seen the cyber-shot 3.2 is $329.00, Where did you order it from?
April 7, 2003 at 1:03 am #263376Hey Chappy, I ordered it from BestBuy.com on the internet.

http://www.bestbuy.com/PhotoImaging/DigitalCameras/Cameras.asp?m=82&cat=83&scat=84April 7, 2003 at 12:48 pm #263404Here’s what I’d look for in a digital camera:
Most optical zoom you can afford. (digital zoom is usually lame and can be done at home on your computer)
Most Mega pixels you can afford 2+ (Mines 2 and it looks great I use a 4 MP at work and there’s not much difference)
Removeable memory.
Memory card reader (faster than doing it through camera ~$25-$35)
One that uses regualar batteries ie. AA (Then buy a couple sets of the highest capacity milli amp hour (mah) Nickel Metal Hydride (NIMH) rechargeable batteries and a 1 hour charger) Digital cameras really like batteries!
If you get a Kodak you don’t need the dock you can use the card reader or the camera and cable.
I have a Kodak DX5000 waterproof cam and love it. I’ve taken 1400 pix in just over 1 year!
Good Luck,
Ferny.
