I decided to take advantage of one of our last days of “warm” weather… took a ½ day of vacation and headed to Everts from Mankato. I said, “Hi” to Dean, Brian and Stewart before heading off to look for walleyes at 2:30.

I tried pitching plastics down river by the Teepee… no luck. Headed back up river towards the dam and found fish. My first walleye (23”) came on a Purple Chart. Ringworm and of course, the fish hit while I was on my cell phone with a work call.

Then I switched over to Paddletails. The Catalpa Chart. Tail and Purple Pearl Tail worked well for me. I ended the afternoon/evening with a total of 10 walleyes. I was off the water and headed back home by 6:15. Sorry, no pictures… I need to get into the 21st Century and get a digital camera!

Way to go Mike. I remember fishing alongside your boat about a month ago, and you were hammering fish on those same two PTs. Talk about persistence!

I like to throw or drag PTs also, as a nice change of pace from ringies. They offer a different action and a different profile that the ringworm, and can often be the right recipe on an otherwise slow day.

Jason – Yep, you’re right about changing the pace up. I started with ringies but it was slow (caught the biggest fish on one though). Switched over to PTs and had much better luck. Hope to see you again out on the water!

Sounds good, but how is that going to happen if you sell your boat? Do you have another on the way?

You saw me in my “new” used boat. Am selling my 14 footer.
