Hey guys, I just wanted to give and update on the bite here on P2. Tuesday started the week off very good with another great fish. Wendsday I had the pleasure to hop in the boat with Rootski. What a beautiful night to be on the river and Steve is always great company. We didnt get into any big fish but we were able to get into a few eyes, one sauger and even a sucker But steve let me down and didnt catch any sheepies
Now with the cooler weather the # of fish are still showing themselves but the size has seemed to taper a bit for me. On the upside there just getting fatter. You almost think its april aready . Plastics and jigs 3/16-1/4 oz have been doing good.

Here is the 29″. It wasnt as long as my last one but just as round

I was impressed Monica was willing to brave the winds on saturday but it payed of for here with biggest ringworm eyes so far

And check out the girth on these this one. One of your typicall 23″ P2 eyes but just fat!! Its good to see that there is a great future to the river here with the amount of fish in the 22-23 inch year class
Just one more because this is an unusuall catch for me down there. In the last week I have caught more suckers than sheepies??? And I had a buddy with tonight that just thought we had a monster eye. I could tell right away this wasnt any eye but I just went with it

That’s a great pic of that Carp. I believe it’s a German or Half-Scaled Carp. They sure are a neat fish with that irregular scale pattern.

You’re still amazing, Joe! Honestly guys you get on a spot, reach for your rod, and Joe already is hooked up with a nice Walleye. I’ve seen it happen a lot now and it is gettting old

That was fun and let’s do it again soon Joe.

Great fish Joe. I like that Carp shot. Thats cool looking scale pattern. I bet it was a fun fight regardless.

Indeed it is a carp. From what I gather it a European sub-species slightly different from the common Asian carp.
This particular fish is most often referred to as a mirror carp by fish biologists.

I have heard them called mirror carp also. I have been catching a couple suckers “redhorse” lately but this is the first one of these that I have caught since drowning crawlers as a kid. Thought it was a buffalo at first but once it hit the surface you could see the scale pattern…. Pretty cool! The suckers have been hitting the baits but this guy took a foul hook…
