Looking to get out and try my hand at some fall walleye & sauger fishing on Wednesday. Haven’t heard much lately, so just a little curious as to what’s been going on.
Plan A would be to fish below the dam at Guttenburg, but I would consider Dubuque also. Never fished there, so I’d need some help finding ramps, etc if I get pointed that way.
Fished the dam on the 24th with a few small saugers mostly jigging plastic and or minnows on both sides of the river. There is a good landing in Guttenburg. Tried casting plastic to riprap but that did not produce much either.

Andy Craig has a good report on pool 11 from the 21st on the reports page. Hopefully the bite has gotten even better since then. Good luck. Let us know how you do.
Well, it was cold. Really cold. The sun might have kept us a little warm were it not for the gusty winds.
The fishing was tough. Lots of grass coming down, not the worst I’ve seen it, but certainly made it difficult to keep a bait down for too long. We caught a few small saugers, but we definitely didn’t light the world on fire. Those around us seemed to be having similar luck, probably the biggest fish I saw caught was maybe stretching 12 inches.
