Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has been out at all lately. Any reports you would like to post about your recent outings? Good results, No results, multispecies, etc.. is all worth mentioning. Looking to get back down there in the coming days to start scouting for upcoming trips.

Looks like the river flow is way down. I might start out looking for those high percentage main channel areas first and go from there.

Steve, Was just out there last night with Fisher Dave and friends. Trolling cranks, with little to show for it. Out of three of us, we each were able to bring in a fish, sheephead, smallie, and a nice little walleye. Other than that alot (and I do mean alot) of leaves and debris. Wish I was doing it during the day to see all the nice colors, would have been something to do. Contantly ripping them off, both in and out of the water. Met up with someguys fishing below the ford damn, after talking with them, not sure how they did if you know what I mean. Good luck out there, when you go.

Was out yesterday morning for a few hours, primarily casting cranks to wingdams near and downstream of 494. Unfortunately that wasn’t the hot ticket for me. Only picked up two walleyes around 20″. Did get a couple white bass, and probably would’ve picked up more if I was using smaller cranks. Did do a little trolling without success, but didn’t give it a fair shot either. The smarter approach would’ve been to mix in a few different patterns.

Water temps were around 60F, and flows at Lock and Dam 2 were around 4,000 cfs. Still seems to be a ton of forage available. The front coming through should change things up.

I hope to get back out there this weekend.

I was down there on shore a couple of days ago. The backwater areas are FULL of baitfish; it looked like it was raining out. I watched a guy and his kids catch a bunch of little Smallies from shore near Waterous. I’m going to try and get out there later in the week, hoping we’re not snowed in by then

Thanks for the update guys. Spent yesterday afternoon doing a little searching to try to figure out a bite.
Ended up with 14 walleyes with a 27″ fish for the big fish for the afternoon. The bite was surely not hot and heavy but enough action to keep a guy interested.
Most of the fish came on Jimmy D’s hair jigs with a couple fish coming on cranks.

Sweet news. Any hints as to the types of areas you found fish at? Thanks.

    Big E,
Was kind of a mixed location day. Some fish came on wingdams and some fish came on current swept rip rap. Seemed like we would pick off a couple fish right away and then they would be done and it was best to move on to the next spot. We did stay put on a couple spots and they did end up producing more fish, just took a little while between bites. I think unitl water temps dip down a bit, running and gunning will be my approach for now anyway.
Yesterday I kept telling myself with the low flow and warmer water temps I should be concentrating on those spots will more pronounced flow, but I did stop at a couple wingdams that had zero to very little flow on them and they produced a couple fish as well. Just goes to show that the fish appear to be widely spread out yet….

I’ll be lurking around on Sunday. I’ll stop by if I see ya in that stealthy River Pro. Are you still clad in your signature red Guide Wear?

I might head down this afternoon for a couple hours.. as Moores Bait reported, we had a very slow night, but the day before(daylight hours) we caught several saugers and walleyes(probably 12?) pulling cranks in 8′-10′. Lots of white bass and a few smallmouth thrown in. The day action was good. The debris wasnt an issue because a fish was connected to the line every few minutes.

The other boat we ran into claimed they had very good luck at night throwing rapalas into the shallows. It may have been true because the fish sure werent in the same place they were in the daylight.

Sealegs was out last night from 500 to 800 and i caught 7 with 21 inches being the biggest. I was casting into the shallow water. Also worth noting the shad are thick right now!! The seagulls were having easy pickin’! I didnt try trolling as i was picking up a fish here and there casting.

I was out today for a few hours on P2 and had a mixed bag experience. We fished from 9am til 2pm and caught walleyes, smallies, drum and a carp.

The largest ‘eye was 22″ and she was a fat, fat girl. More exciting was an 18″ smallie that my buddy caught in some skinny water. I’ve boated my fair share of smallmouth in P2, but this was the largest I’ve seen in a number of years.

We also boated two large drum; one went 8# and the other was just shy of 12#. Those stinky silverbacks can peel some line

It was a gorgeous day on the water and I’m looking forward to the bite heating up in the weeks to come.

    See ya out there!

Rootski and I had similar results as Beno did. We caught a nice variety of fish today with Rootski catching the biggest walleye along some rip-rap on a ring-worm. The bulk of our fish came on 1/8 oz. hair jigs pitched up top of the wingdams and to shallow sand flats between wingdams. I’d say from what we saw today the walleyes are just starting to come into a good bite, but are still scattered about and not bunched up just yet.
