Well, the fishing at desoto was a mixed bag. I caught tons of fish, but no walleye on Sat. There was only sparse current over the wings and the water temp was 59/60 dergrees, depending on where you were. Lots of boats too – both fishers and duck hunters. On Sunday, the first hour of light had better current for some reason and the wind was out of the North, North west running down the current. I could still fish 3/16th and 1/4ounce hair jigs and swim them either over the wings or through the trough in front. The bass were so easy to catch, it got old catching them. It seemed 10 inch bass and smaller were on top and big fat bass were in front in the trough. All manner of dark jigs produced but kelly green and black by far out produced any other color for me. Sheepies like hair too. However, could not find a walleye on the wings, but when I drifted in between wingdams I did have luck jigging one-eyed shinners. Fish were in 15 fow. Agiain, the fishing was good, but I did not pick up a legal eye. Boy it sure was great getting to fish the river again. Hopefully as the water cools and the baitfish die off, the bite will get hot.
