I’m a student down at UW-La Crosse looking to get out on the river and catch some walleye/smallies. I’m originally from Prescott, WI (pool 3) so I know the river pretty well, but I’m not to familiar with it around the La Crosse area. Lately I’ve just been trout fishing on some of the area streams but I miss catching walleyes. I was just wondering if anyone had some advice for fishing from shore or if anyone had an open seat in a boat anytime this fall. Any information would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in Advance,
    Alex

Alex-I fish pools 7 and 8 quite a bit and you will be more than welcome to jump in my boat The walleyes have not quite gotten the fall feed bag on, but we are getting really close I think Keep in touch with me on here and we will get out and hit the water. As long as you don’t mind fishing for walleyes out of a bass boat

Have you thought about fishing the float? They do good on the saugers and eyes there this time of year as the fish move towards the tail waters.
You would also have a blast fishing with Wats, even if it is out of a bass boat.
I don’t have much of a boat but, it smells like fish I will also keep you in mind if I have an open seat

Let me know, you should be able to hop in some time. Send em a PM and let me know what kind of times you’d be able to go. I’ll shoot you a PM if I’m ever going during those times.

Myself and Bret Clark were out on Sunday on pool 8. The action isn’t quite happening yet. Water temps were still 60 degrees. It appears there are a few smaller fish making the move toward the tailwaters, but nothing to get excited about. The plastic bite was definitely not going yet, but the minnow guys were doing a little better, but mostly small fish. If this weather pattern stays as predicted, we could start to heat up by the weekend.
