I’m heading down to Red Wing this evening to try and catch a couple eaters. Will be putting in at colville park. Anyone got any suggestions to try out first?? I’ve only fished this area one time with the “Master” this last spring so a push in any certain direction would be great. Thanks!!!!

    Can’t guarantee anything, but…..

As soon as you enter the main channel out of Colville, take a left and head upstream. Start trolling right there in front of the rip-rap. Work towards shore until your in 6-8 feet and back out to the channel down to 12-15. (Keep zig-zagging) There are a couple deeper cuts as you get near the end of the rip rap, just keep trolling.

Number 7 shad rap works well in this depth. A stick bait on a 3-way or snap weight is also effective. If you get into any fish, you can drift/jig back down and do it again.

Just an FYI….. the no-wake runs from the entrance to the river at Colleville north for about 3/4 of a mile. So ya got to go slow anyway, might as well have a line out.

If nothing is happening there, go on up to the 63 bridge in Red Wing and fish the Mn side on down to the Sewage plant. The key to fish that area is staying on the current break. (The current will turn and run upstream in that area.)

Other than that, you can always look for other guys working spots, usually inside or outside turns.

    Good Luck,

    J.
