Pool 4 update with piggie pics

A general slowing of the lake trolling bite on Pool 4 continues for my boat. I’m still picking up fish on every trip, but the overall numbers are on the decline, while the percentage of sheepies is on a steep increase.

We did happen upon one beautiful fish yesterday, suspended in 25 fow near a windblown rip-rapped shoreline. She hit the tape at just over 28″, and took a #7 white glass shad rap. One thing I have noticed is a general trend towards more natural patterns over the past couple of weeks. More fish are coming on glass, blue, and blue/silver and fewer on the loud patterns that predominated in June/early July. I assume that the good water clarity of late has a lot to do with that trend.

Hard to tell who is happier in this picture. Check out the smile on Tim’s face!

    Jason,
Thanks for the report. What a nice fish! I’m taking a young friend out this week before he returns to school, and I’m still undecided about Pool 2 or 4. Two is a lot closer, but…… Hmmmm.

Nice fish! What kind of speeds are you running if you don’t mind?

High 2s to low 3s. Nothing happening if a guy gets too close to 2 mph.

Is that GPS speed? With the curent or against the current?

    Yes, that’s a GPS speed.

I’ve been doing most of my trolling in the lake where the current is imperceptable. I tend to troll with the wind rather than against it for ease of boat control, esp when dealing with a fish. When I troll in the riverine sections, I’m creeping upstream at 1.2-1.6 mph (GPS).
