Any sign yet of the July slowdown on Pool 4 yet??? A week ago from the reports it looked strong, thinking about a day or two up there next week to see if boards and crawler harnesses are working again , but don’t want to drive that far if the bite has died.

I spent the night down there Lawrence.

The favorite wife and I caught some beefy channels and one little 10 lbs flathead…but it was her first this year…so that means something!

    Oh..walleyes??

All I can tell you about them is that two fellas came in last night with “some” and around noon they were in the cleaning house with 10…all saugers they said…15 to 18 inches.

    I didn’t see them first hand….but I doubt a fisherman would lie.

The way things are looking, the walleyes must have slowed down a bit. Just wondering how everyone is doing on pool 4. Good luck fishing stay cool.

I am not sure what’s going on in pool 4 I have been up on pool 3 and it’s been good more often than not .

Maybe someone who’s been fishing as of late will fill us in??

things on the lower end of the pool have been very very slow for us guys that spend a better part of the day trolling, as for the willow cat guys I can not say on there part how they are doing but what I have been told is that it’s slow for everybody.

Fished many parts of the river from Red Wing down to the head of the lake on Saturday AM just to see if we could do something different (other than what we’ve been doing/seeing on the lower end of the lake). We found the same. Fish seem to be scattered here and there in the moving water. We generally fished 3-ways with leeches and/or crawlers and then trolled cranks. In the end, we came up with just a few small walleyes and many “other” typical river fish. Water temps were about 84 Degree’s – even in the main channel.
LOT’s and LOT’s and LOT’s of small baitfish in the water. I think dinner time – is all the time – now for most any fish!
We got out at 5:30 AM and fished until about 11:30 AM. Not much to write home about. ….I guess it’s back to the lower end for a while.

boy, this is the longest time that I have seen with no one posting on pool 4. Just wondering if the strippers are even bitting. I will be heading up in about a week or so. If I can Have some info just to boast my confidence I would appreciate it.

    Good Look Fish Guys.

I have not been on pool 4 since July 15th. The best thing to do is just go fishing if you have the time. The fish are still there, they have not left.

I have not seen a lot of fishing boats on the water with this warm weather we have had. Now that’s it has cooled down a bit maybe there will be more traffic on the river.

I made it out Thursday. Very tough bite for me. Fished mostly the lake. Of course, the sheepies are always biting. Had one big fish on for about a minute, then shook its head and took my jointed rap with it. The lower end river has a fair amount of debris going thru it right now, I thought the water looked a bit cleaner in the lake. I’m sure somebody was catching the eyes, just wasn’t me.

You will have to put your time in to be sure. Pull and cast cranks on rip rap channel edges with a steep break and good flow, some nice eyes have come to my boat this way lately.

I have not looked for white bass, but did catch some nice bluegills fishing crawlers and leeches on shallow riprap. This happens almost every year if flow gets low enough to send the panfish to the main channel. Good fishing……B

I know it was way too hot for me out in a boat. It is sad when you hear the words too hot to fish isn’t it. Now that it is in the cooler it is time to chase the eyes and whities.
