The bite on upper Pool 4 is running strong. There are a lot of eater size walleye being caught right now. We did very well for 15-20″ fish dragging. Our Best colors were orange, black and Yellow. The fish seemed to prefer crawlers, but don’t be afraid to try other baits as their preference changes often. We drug in the Back Channel, but to find the fish you have to move around. It doesn’t take long for fish to make a showing if they are in that area. There are also big fish to be caught working the rip rap on the Wisc. side, but thats for a different post.

We were down river at bit farther and pretty much the same results. We were dragging red or glow blue Nuckle Ball jigs with leeches and we caught fish all day yesterday.

We couldnt catch anything but cats with a crawler!!!

The biggest fish we caught dragging was 4.5 did you guys snap any big momma’s??

Mellow out Dude. Anyone that knows us knows no fish over 18 inches or so goes in our livewell on a normal day. The picture is a couple of the bigger fish that my son weighed in yesterday to take second place in the Pooh Bear Open walleye tournament. A sad fact is the larger of the two didn’t make it and we gave her to a friend staying at Evert’s. No one felt worse about losing her than Chris, he worked on her for almost half an hour trying to revive her but the heat and boat ride were too much. I guess that is why I replied to this post, to defend him, but really we are on the same page. I could NEVER put a knife to a fish like that, not out of fear of PCB’s but because fish like that are the future of fishing.
Side note: Second place for a sixteen year old isn’t too shabby!

Chris is right on about the walleye bite . Fishing has still been very good for numbers and size. Cranks have been good for me the last couple of days but dragging jigs has put many fish in the boat as well.Depths have varied depending on location. Orange jigs jigs have been best for my boat if in less than 7′ of water, 7′ or more and blue has been a bit better for me.

Nice fish guys and congrats again on you catch

The day Brite Red Nuckle ball was smokin 1\16. I was dragging two of them myself while the other two in the boat were switching up. Day Brite purple and blue were putting fish in the boat but glue blue would be my second pick on colors!
