Looking for a spot to beat the wind, heat and see a show? With the high wind forecast,…I called Dean at Everts Resort this morning to see how the river was doing. Best decision of the day. After getting some tips, tackle and bait a friend from work and I started fishing right from the dock. This 25 incher came on the 3rd drift on a chart jig and fire cracker ring worm. We moved on down the back channel catching a few sauger and walleyes here and there on jointed blue or chart shad raps until we got down near Bay City flats. Several boats were fishing there but is was slow for us. We started trolling again and got a few more sauger on the flats. The Red Wing airshow was going on with the planes right next to the channel. Fighters, bombers and acrobats flying nearby all afternoon. We returned to Everts to find out a 28″ 9lb walleye was caught near ours. What a great day! Don’t forget the river,…its not just a spring spot. Everts has everything you need including up to date fish reports (click on resorts and lodging at the top of the page for more info).
A good day at Red Wing
