DeeZee, nice fishing report and outing. Was there a color pattern for the Smithwick Suspending Super Rogues? Man they are just an awesome bait!

    DeeZee,

You were 3 fella’s in the ranger tiller right? A buddy and I were shore fishing/dog hiking on the crosby side just across and down from the confluence, throwing plastic from shore.

How’d you do at the confluence?

Taking tomorrow off despite the weather, any idea’s? You be out there?

    Mike,

That was not me in the tiller boat, I have a dual console boat although I did see them last night as well. We worked the confluence area for about an hour in a half with only one nice fish to show for it. That has been pretty typical lately in this area. The fish you do bump into have been well worth the wait but just lack the numbers.
How did you do from shore?

    hey,

got me a big ole’ white sucker on a bubblegum ringworm, just pounded it too!

I can usually get a few from shore when dog walking, from where the construction barge for the new 35 bridge is, up to the corner where the river starts to go west. That shore treats me well all year, especially during the summer crank season. I live literally 10 blocks from crosby, so I’m down there a fair amount.

think it’ll be worth fishing tomorrow? We bagged going to sheboygan for browns & DePere for eyes because of the weather, bummer!

    Awsome report Steve !!

How deep of water were you finding those walleyes pulling your smithwicks ?

    Dave,

    Thank you!
The best depth we found pulling the Rogues was right around the 6-8ft mark right along the shore! Every once in awhile we made a sweep out into deeper water and still got a few fish, but for the most part making contact with with the bottom from time to time seem to be the best thing going. Once you made contact, it seemed to trigger the fish to hit.

Like I mentioned, this is often a under utilized technique in the rivers for spring time walleyes yet very effective!
