Spent the morning fishing Pool 2 with mixed results. Got a couple, missed a few and lost a rod. If anybody is tired or chasing the sometimes elusive Pool 2 walleye and your interested in looking for a multi species opportunity, about 150 yards above the 494 bridge on the St. Paul side in about 8 feet of water is a nice Avid baitcasting rod with a number 6 Bomber attached… dont expect a fish on the other end it fell out of the boat today as I was netting a fish! Its their for the taking!

You could post the GPS coordinates of that spot and watch for one of the hundred boats that fish there over the next few days to snag it!

P.S. Sorry to hear about the rod. That sucks.

I dropped one by a wingdam near there once and fished it out of 12 foot of water with a spoon. Hooked it in the tip eye!!!! Mayber I should try my luck on yours.

I hear your scream and feel your pain. It’s a good thing those Avid rods are so reasonably priced

Sorry to hear about the rod, Professor.

Now I have a great excuse to get on the water ASAP. However, certain people (my wife) thought I was out doing her list of chores. So how can I tell her that I lost my favorite rod in a place I wasnt supposed to be. Any and all excuses would be appreciated. I fiqure that anglers have the most creative excuses of anyone.

Sorry to hear you lost a nice rod. I’ve had four go in the water over the past 30yrs and have retrieved all but one. I carry a large treble hook with barbs removed for just that purpose. You can weight the shank and use it to drag for the lost equipment. The one that I didn’t get back was my brother’s. I found out months later in a conversation with a friend that he had snagged the rod while fishing soon after we lost it. Finders Keepers I guess because there was no offer to return it. If I found equipment like that and knew for sure who it belonged to I would be happy to return it to the owner.

While I don’t know what chores where on the list, my excuse would start something like this, “Honey, when I was out doing whatever it was that you asked me to do, I snapped my fishing pole that was in the car. The whatever it was that I was picking up for you rolled over it in the car. It’s a bummer and now I’ll need to get a new one. (you can snap any old pole you have around the garage, or just say that you did, then replace it with a new Avid) Good luck…..and don’t forget to pick up another Bomber 6A.

That’s a great excuse, assuming you didn’t use the Avid’s lifetime replacement warranty as an excuse to buy it in the first place!!
