So what is the difference between Pool 4 Pool 5 and Lake Pepin? And most important do you think my 14 ft Sears special will handle the lake?

hi Yogi, welcome to FTR. pool 4 prob has a total of 5 wingdams, and very good populations of multispecies. pool 5 has alot of backwater areas, also is very good for different species and has shorelines just lined with wingdam after wingdam all the way down river. Some have said if you are going to fish pool 5, you better learn to fish wingdams. lake pepin can be tough, but is good in summer, most walleye and sauger in the summer head down to the southern half of the lake. good pike action around shorelines with weed cover. your boat in pepin will work, just bewatchful of the weather and mainly the winds. wind direction will play a big part on what the size of the waves will be, if any. BIG boats also throw a big wake, and do play havoc on smaller boats. good luck Jack..
