These are two friends of mine from Iron Mountain, Mi. Though I constantly “bug” them they remain guests not usually posting on the website. They are excellent fishermen and regularly visit Everts in the spring. This is Pastor Dave’s first monster Eye… 13lbs 10oz on the digital scale.

He caught it somewhere downstream using plastics two weeks ago. I thought you guys would appreciate this Piggie.

The guy’s harrassed him about not releasing it but its at the taxidermist right now (who wouldn’t mount his first 10#+++ ?)…he promised to release the next 13#er for everybody that fishes da Pool.

Thanks Dean! for great advice…as usual!

Dang, looks like that thing swallowed a beach ball or had been drinking Bud heavy too long. What a gut on that fatty.

I’ve known Dave for quite a while…He not only pastors a church in the area but is the Chaplin at our local county hospital. He and his lovely wife Marie just went through a bout with cancer in which Dave’s surgery (just shortly before the fishing trip) was(Thank God) successful.
I can’t think of a nicer guy to hook up with such a fish of a lifetime!

That is a great fish. I think if anyone says that they should have put it back and probably saying that because they haven’t caught one that large, that’s why.

Holy Moly, I bet the pastor said a quick prayer after landing that beast. I know I would have.

You are likely right. But with the apparent spawn why not do CPR, release and have a replica made.

I personally have never liked the looks of the reproductions. They just don’t have the look and feel of a real fish. I would have done the same thing and kept it for the mount. Congrats on the great catch. Mark

Im all for CPR and replicas, but… to each his own… that definetely is a HOG!! I can’t say what I would have done but I don’t blame him a bit for keeping it.

I only pray I have to make this very tough decision about 10 times in my life!! OK, I’d settle for once.
