Mike,
Funny you bring that up with the rough fish. For about every sucker that I caught, the next fish would be a walleye. At times, I was crawling my plastics over the backs of these rough fish. You could feel the different areas of the fish just by the way it rolled over the back or tail.
The shallowest that I was able to make contact was about the 8-9ft range. THe most common was 11-13 foot breaks that proved to be the best area.
In the morning hours the fish seem to really hang high in the water column in some of the deeper areas that I was fishing and as the sun grew high and the boat waves crashed the shorelines the fish seem to get spooked and hug the bottom a little more. My trolling motor crapped out on me late Sunday evening and now I am without a motor. So, if I can get this thing covered under warranty, then I will be grabbing one in the next day or two, otherwise Minn Kota…here I come.
