Today was the day that broke winter’s back! (I hope!) What a beautiful day to be out. Note to file, bring sun screen….

Got an early start today and headed downstream from Evert’s. My brother had the front seat……he had not been out since fall, so he was fishing hungry!

Here is an early “Good One” to start the day.

On our drive down, we had a friendly bet. When he asked “Did you get the minnows?”, I said “We don’t need any, but you can get a scoop at Evert’s” Then went on to explain all the stuff we talk about here on FTR about hair and plastic….(he is not on-line.) So I bet him that I’d get bigger/better fish going baitless, he ran “Meat”,,,,the contest was on!

Overall, we were about even at the end of the day. Our better fish were in the 20-23 inch range with several in the 16-19 inch range. All scrappy as heck.

Here is another one later in the morning.

Our bite got tough around 10am. We tried a few different areas and called it a day around 2pm. But on our way home through Prescott, we decided to put in there and fish a few wing dams on pool 3. Nothing going there except the tranquility of zero boat traffic!

So, yes my bro caught the biggest fish today…but it was on hair…no bait!! LOL

    Doing it again tomorrow!

    (All fish released….)
