I’m new here and been reading alot about the 5″k and 4″ ringworms.I was wondering if you think they would work on smaller rivers 100 yds across max depth 25′ ave depth 5’or less? It’s small but 10-12 pound fish come out of it ever year.Any thoughts? Nice to see all those beautiful fish on here.

Welcome to the forum eye-full! I don’t know the answer to your question myself, but you’ve certainly come to the right place if you’re wanting to find someone who can! You might want to try this same question on the “Small Rivers and Streams” forum for additional input.

I’m thinking your conditions could be similar in some ways to venturing up Vermillion or Hay Creek so ……………anyone used the plastics up the inlets?

Out of curiosity………what area/region do you usually fish?

I live in Iowa and fish mainly the Ceder River that runs through the ne part of the state.Hopeing to venture over to the big river a little more this year pools #9 and #10.I like trying something different then the crowd (like the rocket shad they use for bass,it worked) so I think I’ll give it a go.Do you snap jig the big grubs? Thanks alot, good fishing.

I don’t see why they wouldn’t as fish are fish no matter whether they live in a big river or a small river. Give them a try and let us know how you did. Thanks, Bill

Go for it with the ringworms, I have used them on lakes and rivers. The large and smallmouth will just pound them down here at Lake Geneva Wi. and the walleye will to on the Fox Chain and Riverin Ill.

I fished ringworms in the Guttenburg pool and did quite well, I also did well fishing ring worms on the Iowa River. I wasn’t pitching these jigs I was just drifting bottom and the better fish preferred the ring worms vs any kind of bait.

Thanks guys,I,m going to give them a go.I guess using the lightest jig and so forth, them 5″ers kinda intimidated my fishing rod,I heard wimpering over in the corner. But after a good talking I think its ready now.(ha,ha)
