My little boy wanted to go for a boat ride tonight. I decided I had better throw a rod in just in case I felt the urge. Well needless to say I got the urge. One drift and I landed this walleye while working a steep sand flat. Then he was cold and we went in. Purple with white tail got the glory again. Gotta love the worm.

actually FLICK you don’t have to lie and say that you talked to the city of alma, when you talked to me while i was at the landing and that i talked to the city of alma the day before!!!!!! When i was out fishing on tuesday, the city worker was out there with the backhoe trying to bust it out, and my vehicle was parked right on the other side with the trailer on the ice, so i had to get back before my trailer could have broke through and fell through the water. He got the one side kind of cleared, as of right now, it will be tight to get a longer boat through there, but he said that he would be back on friday to try and bust the rest of the ice. There is a pretty bad ice ump right by the water and would be tought to get a heavy boat over it, but fishing on pool 5 right now is well worth your time. I will have some pics once my film is developed. I am on spring break so I got a chance to get out with a buddie who is also on spring break, there are some dandies going to be in there and a 37 inch northern!!!!! and 2 fish over 24 inches, We also lost one that was at least 25 inches. They aren’t that agressive most fish coming off trailer hooks of hair jigs tipped with minnows, Nothing on the ringworm Yet to catch a fish on pool 5 on them, but they sure went for the power pulse worm.

Pool 5 fish different than pool 4 fish? Not hardly. Maybe the fish just weren’t on the worm this particular day. I’ve caught walleye on ringworms from pool 3 down to pool 8. A river walleye is a river walleye. Plus, after re-reading some of the telemetry studies regarding fish movements between pools, a pool 4 walleye today can very easily be a pool 3 or pool 5 walleye tomorrow!

Pools 4 and 5 are both good. I just have been on pool 5 lately because it is less than a good stones throw away. You will see good fish on both pools this weekend.

fishing for my boat was slower today than the rest of the days, but we did manage to get a 24 inch, a 20 inch and a 19 inch walleyes in the boat, we found most of our fish in warmer water, and as we were out at mid day found some fish in new spots. These fish seemed to be more aggressive in this area, finally broke my drought and caught a nice walleye on a ringworm, a purple one to be exact, fishing has slowed, but still is going to be good, different techniques were used by us but casting and vertical jigging seemed to be the best. We did end up with 4 fish that we had a fry tonight and it was very good. fish and shore lunch is just too good, especially with velveta shells and cheese.
