Just curious if anyone knows the current river level up in this area?? Been wanting to go back up and fish the area but if it is still up and the rollers are up at genoa not going to waste the 2.59 a gallon diesel fuel.

Honda75 River is still very high and rolling. Just below flood stage and not expected to start falling until next week Mon. or Tues. Could be some excellent fishing when this happens. More fish being caught off shore than in boats as of lately, will keep you posted. RB

    Thanks len,

Anything going on down at lynxville?? It is killing me sitting at home when i know there are walleyes to be caught. The only bad thing is i have heard reports that the river is coming back up and the rollers are still up.

Thanks again len. I take it the rollers must still be up and the river is moving right along then.

I was up Saturday afternoon and the rollers were up and the parking lot was flooded. The river was up to about 100 yards from the railroad track. The barge was open for business but I’m not sure where they picked up the customers or how you signaled them. The Large Mouth Bass were on fire, the White Bass were fun to catch and a lot of them. We fished below lock and dam #9 in pool 10.

I put in at the next boat landing down from the Falling Rock Bar. I think they call it Cold Springs? It’s about 3-4 miles south of the Falling Rock. With the water up the way it was the boat landing was a breeze to use. I think there was about 6′ of water in that landing. I know at normal water levels that landing is usually very shallow and hard to use. The nice thing about Saturday after noon was you only had 5 other boats out so you could go where you wanted with out having to fight the boat traffic.

I would head up but with the river here at home being way out of its banks i would think that the miss. river would still be coming back up again.

Beer? In that case, I’ll be the one wearing an eye patch and yelling, “Prepare to be boarded.”

River looks to be dropping like a rock, and should be about where it was last year by Friday/Saturday. Hopefully some of the same patterns hold.

We were up Friday and Saturday fishing around Blackhawk park. We also tried trolling cranks in backwaters where we’ve had luck in the past, and there were a few fish in there, but it seemed like there were better numbers on current seams where sloughs and backwaters met up with the main channel, though nothing was really a hot pattern.

Still in a couple days of fishing, we pulled a number of fish, including a few keepers. I wasn’t at work, and my main objective was a break from all the high stress of work & home lately, so I can’t complain at all. The highlight of the trip was a 35″ plus pike (difficult to measure) that just about ripped the rod holders out of my fiberglass boat. In the main channel currents at 4+mph he was quite a handful.

Digital camera refused to work all weekend, figured it was finally broken, but now that I’m home, it works just fine. Of course, Friday I left the fish finder and GPS in the truck, so it just wasn’t my weekend for gadgets, I guess.

I can relate to what you say about getting away from the stresses of career and family. I’m leaving this coming Wednesday morning and not coming back until next Sunday. I’m heading up to Lansing for 5 days of camping and fishing with “the boys”. I think it is kind of funny to call a bunch of middle age plus men “the boys”. The river is dropping and hopefully by later this week the current will also have let up some. I’m itching to get out and hit some of those wingdams. My world has been nothing short of crazy the past few weeks so this little vacation is greatly anticipated as well as needed.

Bring your handlining gear Eyehunter. The trollers won my club’s little tourney this weekend. Out on the main channel drop off at Victory sitting on the breakline doing curls with those big weights. All I could catch were a few bass.

This weekend will be crowded with over 300 in the tourney out of Stoddard.

Sounds good to me. We were on the water a little earlier than expected, and by noon we were about 300 yards down the slough channel from the ramp (and about a six-pack into what turned out to be a peach of a day).

Fish were few and far between, sounds like from the Sunday tourney results we should’ve headed North instead of South and battled the heavy current, but we did our best, drank some brew-ha-ha, and had a good time in spite of the slow fishing.

Whadda ya got going on 6-7 May? Shoot me a PM. River might be more tolerable conditions by then also.
