Wanted to know if the majority of anglers here use snap swivels or tie directly to jig, or have you found it doesn’t make alot of difference? Thanks John

I tie direct as I don’t like the idea of the extra hardware when it’s not needed.

Pre rigging, I will use snaps but once the fishing starts, I won’t replace the snap when it breaks off – one extra tie that I don’t need

Always tie directly to the jig. My experience has shown that direct is much better. I usually pitch or cast jigs so the action would not be the same with a snap. I am not sure about vertically.

I also tie direct. This way you can feel everything. You will really feel the differance if you go from mono to one of the super lines.

I tie directly to the jig also, I rarely use snap swivels unless I’m throwing in-line spinners.

I ty directly to most everything I use, jigs, cranks, etc….
The only time I use a swivel is when I am concerned that there may be any twisting involved. (ie…spinner harnesses)

I feel I get better action from my crankbaits if I ty directly to the split ring rather than putting a snap on the bait. To me, the slight time lost in retying is very minut compared to not catching the fish I need to catch. (confidence wise! )
We have actually seen a difference in our catching rate in previous trips when compared side by side to 2-4 crankbaits that are run the same.

OK! Direct the is the way. With the increased use of Fireline, what is the best knot for tie on? I use the Palomar Knot. Are there others knots that can be used?

There is but it’s hard to beat the Palomar! That is the recommended knot for superlines.
