I took a half day off from work yesterday to mount my transducer for the LX-5 to the boat. Well of course that meant I needed a half day today also
I was on the water by 12:15 I found some saugers miles south of the dam stacked up on the edge of the main channel. There was also a current seam caused by a sand point. I was pulling a three way up river using 4 ounces of lead on a 13” drop with a 3 foot leader to a #7 Blue/silver Floating rapala.
The LX-5 worked great for following the edge. The fish I found were in 25FOW. I also caught some short eyes, and 2 big sheepies that hammered the rapala with authority
I kept five, 15-16 inch male sauger and this female pushing 18.5. inches. The saugers must be on the verge of spawning. The males made a mess out of my cooler
Water temp is 43 degrees and the flow is not bad.
    Good luck fishing people

Now thats the best reason for taking a half off Bud. Glad to see you have your priorities right-fish fish fish. Keep those pics coming and keep us posted on how you like the flasher for open water. I’m going to add mine up front one of these days for using to catch suspended crappies and also bluegills and eyes on the bottom.
    Thanks, Bill

Way to go Buddy Bret . I need to get my priorities straight and just fish – this work stuff is getting in the way of my “other life”. I’ll have my transducer mounted on the trollilng motor tonight so we can try the LX-3 on my boat this weekend.

You will like it Mike. The LX-5 tattled on the fish holding tight to bottom. I can’t wait to check out some of my Flathead spots with my MarCum. There is no hiding now

    Nice work Bret.
    Good detailed report
Glad that LX-5 is working well. Do you have a dual beam for open water or just one?

Glad to hear your getting out on the water Bret, but is sure seems like alot of “pre-fishing”.

I didn’t know there was a limit on pre-fishing If you think about it, you could say I pre fish all year long

Pulling the rig mentioned above is still producing fish.
Today I was a little closer to the dam fishing sand. I caught many short eyes, 1 nice female (released), and several saugers in the 13-17 inch range. The fish were holding in 15FOW just below a sand bar. The sand bar would come up to 8FOW then drop to 15 feet. There was a good current coming over the bar. As soon as my rapala would get to the slop coming up I was slammed.
It was a great morning to be on the water
    Good luck fishing people

    Bret
