We hit the water around 7 this morning and headed towards the dam. Once we got there we had decided to only try for big fish for at least awahile. After about 30 minutes of nothing the big one finally came. I felt the hit and I thought I got a good hookset but the fish must have been running towards me. I thought it’s about 20-21 inches. It comes up next to the boat and it’s this MONSTER walleye(this thing was huge), then she made one roll and the hook popped out!!! My heart broke! Dad said that it was a good Honest 10lb’er at least. Then we started virtical jiging and ended up with a 2 man limit of saugers 14-17 inches and we let go three 18-19 inchers. Becides the walleye, today I also landed my biggest fish to date. This Sturgen pulled us around for 30mins before it finally made it to the boat. I will get some measurements tomorrow.(we didn’t have a tape measure long enough so we marked the net.)

The boy failed to mention that the sauger showed a definite preference for paddletails today. When it was cloudy (early in the day) they wanted pro blue and after the sun came out chart. pepper was the ticket. Definitely more current since they messed with the rollers but that’s not a bad thing. I think the big girls are starting to make an appearance so “Gentlemen, start your engines”. See ya on the river.

Nice sturgeon man, I was in the white Ranger Reatta, people certainly gave you room when you set the hook on that hog. You and your dad certainly had the pattern dialed in the hole, every time I looked over you two were landing a fish. It was fun to see the team work that you and yer dad put together, obviously you both know what you’re doing.

As an aside, I normally don’t bother with pool 4, not really my style of fishing… But I have to say I am totally impressed with Everts, thanks for the ringies, hope your download worked out!!! And does everyone who fishes pool 4 have in IDA sticker on there boat or truck???? No wonder no one talks about Muskies but me and Bob.

Anyway, good work on the sturgeon, I know you had to wait him out.
