I went out for a couple of hours yesterday. Partner was suppose to bring live bait but forgot so we went plastics and hair. The over all numbers on pool 5 are not there yet from what I saw but the quality has been. Water temps running around 33.9 degrees near the dam. Found an area that had temp of almost 38 degrees and that is were we caught some nicer fish. I never did feel this fish bite. While I was pitching shallows I had a Super doo dangling about 8″ off bottom. The pole started sliding down side of boat picked it up with this gold looking creature on the other end. I wish I could have felt the bite.

Nice looking fish but there’s something crawling on your head. Good to see a report from pool 5. 4 days and I should be water ready. I suppose we’ll be in the deep feeze by then.

They always say the computer hads 10 pounds to a person. lol. I put on winter insulation this year . lol. At night it all turns into…..oh never mind. lol
Last year it really did suck. But! But! This year was one of the coldest in a long time. For a couple of weeks we could actually walk up to the dam from shore on the ice. Not that I would do it but it has been done. r The last time it was this cold during the winter we had an awesome spring. We should have a real good shad die off compared to other warmer years. I can’t wait.

    flick:

I posted you an e. Anyway for the sake of those out there, how far down from the dam is the river open right now? I know two years ago we put in the boat in Buffalo and drove up. Is the flow similar to what the guys are reporting up on 4?

    Mark,

The flow is real down right now. The entire river below the dam is navigable right now. The only place one can put in right now is the belvidere landing. Just remember that there is still lots of big ice chunks floating down. Myslelf and one other boat have been the only ones out. Lots of trailers at landing but they are all ice fishing at spot only navigable by boat.

Jerrad,Great point on the shad die off.I have noticed the same thing on Bago in long winters. The troll bite the following summer is usually awsome.By the way, you still look as handsome as ever.LOL.I gotta go sharpen some hooks or something
