I don’t know what was better today, the fresh air and sunshine or the fishing! The two together have certainly changed my attitude for the better!

Here is Dino with one of many sauger in that 17-18 inch range.

Dinosaur and I put in a good day of fishing. Like I always say, I wish 8 hours at work went by as fast. Been a few weeks since I got the boat wet. Glad to get out again. Beautiful day.

This one put up a pretty good tussle and felt good on my new St Croix rod.

I know Dustin was out today and will post a detailed report on the fishing. But, I have a few folks who have sent me PM’s asking for an update. The bite was pretty good. Plastic was better than hair today. A little meat on the jig didn’t hurt when it slowed down mid day as the sun got up high. We concentrated on the area from the dam down to the “Y”. There were 20 or so boats out today, so not a huge amount of pressure. Should be good for you guys headed out tomorrow.

Will sleep well tonight, sorry so short….tomorrow, the one that got away!! lol

I wanted to mention that Dino and I made an excursion down the back channel. Made it all the way down to 4th cut before we hit ice. (Pretty much shore to shore ice down there.) Forgot about this untill just now and Dustin didn’t mention it in his report….

Big word of caution. The water is so low right now, there are areas of less than a foot of water. Heck, less than 6 inches in many places. A lot of those sand bars have moved around. I was lucky to be in my flat bottom jon boat. Only hit bottom for a short area. Could have been worse! At least I didn’t have to get out of the boat. The area down by the cabins is real bad…The first turn after the 63 bridge is spooky too.

If you do decide to run the back channel, bring your waders and a spare prop!

Thanks for the update. It sure is scary how low the water is going to be this spring if we don’t get a few large snow falls. BTW, Did you get a chance to fish in the back channel?
