Finally got down to pool 4 today, went with PaulV in his Warrior. Got a late start and didn’t get on the water til 11am. looking at RiverEyes’ report that might have been a mistake, but that is the best we could do today for time. Headed up to the dam area, fished both sides of the channel, results: things were just a little slow, we did not use or buy any minnows, they are always a good option to have in the boat, but we decided to go with the Doos and Ringworms. We did not have any fish over 18 inches, and only saw one fish netted that might have gone 20″. Our best depths were generally 22-28 feet. We did not want to fish any deeper than 30 feet. PaulV stuck with the Doos and white was his best color. My best color was Chart on Chart Ringworm. After 3pm was our best time for about and hour and a half, during that time caught few Saugers and had mainly Walleyes, same depths. For 6 1/2 hours we had about 20 fish from 14 1/2 to 17 1/2 inches, no real small fish, and no big ones. Late afternoon way tooooo many boats were fishing in very deep water and from what I saw many small fish caught. And yes the Eagles were picking off fish downriver. Quite a nice day to be on the river, wind was not a problem for very long, and sun was plentiful. Was good to see Pfluggy and WalleyeChick catching some nice fish. She was doing just about all the boat repositioning with the outboard. ( You are a lucky guy Pfluggy ). The jig and Doo you gave me popped a Sauger after 5 seconds of use, then went cold. We were heading down river a little after 5pm. Thanks PaulV for a fun day, You may have caught a few more fish, but I’d be happy to give you a chance to win back your dollar.
