OK… all you guys with cabin fever… I was out today with 2 fishing budies.. and heres the scoop…. darn cold in the morning but thats when all the fish were caught, we maybe should have been out even earlier.. by around 11 am it was pretty much all done for us…. caught a variety of fish, in water from 14′-23’….. jigs with minnows were the main ticket… most on purple, but some on blue too… only one fish on a super doo…. none on ring worms, sonars, jiggin spoons, shad bodies, and thats pretty much all I tried… most of the boats were by the dam, and by the end of the day

the fishing was very tough in shallower water.. all the fishing seemed to be in the deeper water… but I avoided that… in fact in one attachement is a dead fish that no doubt expired from the deep water catch and release… we personally say about 4 eagles play tag to pick it out of the water…..

first pic is big and ugly…. (not the fish!! )

OK… tallied 11 real nice keeper sized eyes and saugs for 3 guys for the day….. we fished away from the crowd pretty much the whole day…. it seemed by the dam people were catching fish.. at least earlier in the day… later was tough for everyone around there….

Great pics Rivereyes. Similiar reports from what I heard. The boats I talked to had a fair amount of “eater sized” fish. 14-17 inchers. Nothing huge, but most people seemed happy with the fishing. Limits were not uncommon.

Thanks for the pics RiverEyes, they are helping me with the cabin fever!

From the looks of it, the wind was kicking the river up a bit. Was suppose to get up to 33-34 today, but I don’t think it got that warm. Looks chilly! At least it was sunny!

I may have to play hooky on Wed or Thurs and get out…??? 40 on Thursday….

oh yeah… we had plenty of chop out where we were fishing… up towards the dam it was calm and peaceful… probably helped them do better up there.. boat control was easier… I hear steve say limits were not uncommon… I would not be suprised… I guess we should have worked up towards the dam more…. guess I was too stuborn….

Thanks for the pics Bud. But [lol] I thought it was hard on me driving to Red Wing and Everts Sunday and seeing that beautiful open water. These pics of actual fishing boats and fish are really hard on a guy. Makes a guy really appreciate the river when you haven’t been able to get down that way for over 2 months. Oh well, keep them pics coming. Thanks, Bill

Nope, your wrong RiverEyes. Ya can’t be too stubborn when it comes to looking for fish away from the dam!! You will be a better fisherman in the long run AND one of those guys who gets some eyes on the days when “nobody got any”. Keep up the great reports..B

OK RiverEyes, I was OK with all the fish pictures but the shot of the dam with all the boats….did me in….I’m heading for the garage to check the gas in the boat tank. Thanks for all the great shots, did appear a bit chilly out there but keeps the crowds down.
