Started at 9 am Saturday out of Everts Resort. Got a good supply of minnows, doos, and hair jigs at the resort, plus the where to, how to, and the what to , do if none of this works from Steve. Thanks Steve. Headed to the dam. Lots of boats bunched up in the areas at the warning signs. All seemed to be wertical jigging, heavy jigs in from 32-45 feet of water. Too deep for me. Went downstream a 100 yards, found a depth of from 21 up to 17 feet holding fish , towards the outside bend in the channel and started taking fish. Fishing partner used the hair jigs, and doos, I used a 1/4 ounce slip sinker and a 24 inch leader, and a # 6 walleye hook, green in color. The next five hours we caught and released over 40 walleye and sauger, kept 8 fish, 16-19 inches. The slip sinker rig did outfish the jigs and doos in this boat. Not as many fish were marked in the shallower, 17-20 foot area, as the 25 + foot waters showed, but deep water fish pulled to the surface, chances of survival diminish, we stayed in the shallower areas.
