Quick Pool 14 Update

I was able to hit pool 14 Thursday afternoon for several hours, and finally had a really good day on the water! Two of us managed to bring around 18-20 eyes and saugers to the boat. Vertical jigging H2O jigs in orange or black. Plastics outproduced bait, with Chart/glitter and Chart/pepper Dos being best for me, with Bright Craw and Catalpa Orange also producing some fish.
We hit the community hole for a while, and found a few decent saugers and managed to snag a couple really large Paddlefish while there. I hope to post a report with pics this weekend. Bigger eye’s eluded us, but all in all a great afternoon on the water!

Good to see you got out John. Getting some nice fish down here too, but it seems you have to have some meat on their table.
Hair jigs mostly for me. Once in a great while a ringworm or Kgrub will get some attention. If you know which dams to work and can be left alone, you can find a good 3way and crank bite.

Thanks for the “good fishing” post John! It’s been a while since I was on the water, but with luck, I should be able to try for some soon near the Quad Cities. Water temps are running above normal for winter, and I wonder what effect if any that will have on early spring fishing around here. At this point, I do not see any periods of arctic air headed our way (or even up by Minneapolis for that matter) in the coming weeks. It will be interesting to see whether the “other shoe” drops at all the rest of the winter…
