Dodge Boy and myself made it down to the upper landing at Dresbach bound and determined to get it operational We got there at 9 this morning and started chipping away at the ice. It was a little thicker than expected but we hammered away anyway. It only took us an hour to get it cleared enough for a boat trailer. We took all the big chunks out of the water and threw them up on land out of the way
After that was done we decided to get the boat and try to catch a few fish. What started out as a search for eyes and saugers, quickly changed after Dodge Boy picked up a nice perch. We quickly switched our bigger tackle down to smaller jigs and a weight and a hook tipped with a minnow or a minnow head. We picked up quite a few more perch, a few small pike, and Dodge Boy nailed a nice 15″ eye. So after all the work it took to get the ramp clean, we were rewarded with a few fish

Here are the fish we kept. I only contributed 1 perch to the pile. The eye in the pic is 15″, and there are 2 perch that are just a little shorter than the eye

Your welcome guys. The ice was a good foot thick more than half way back. You can send donations in six and 12 pack form to my house.

That boat in the background had a hole in it. The guy put it in and when he came back it was full of water.

I can’t divulge the area we caught the perch, but I will tell you they were in 12-14 feet and on sand Two of those perch are sumo’s. They were about as big around as they were long. The perch are super aggressive little suckers

Thanks Wats and Dodge Boy, I can’t fish Saturday but if the winds arent as bad as they are predicting I may get out Sunday. Either way, with your ambitious efforts, I now have an option. Before you removed that ice there was no way I was able to get my boat in and out with a foot of ice. (Maybe could have got it in , but would have never got it out.. )…….Murf

Exactly. Getting the boat off the trailer is easy, but pulling it out with that big of a lip would have caused some damage Not sure if we got it wide enough for a big Lund, but it is close. The ramp is still super shallow, but do-able.
Dodge Boy got an ear full from somebody the day before. Some people don’t want the ramps to be cleaned because then too many people will go fishing
Also, like Dodge had said earlier, the boat in the background had a big hole in it from jumping the boat on to the ice to put it back on the trailer
