Are the rollers at the dam still unchanged?

I talked with Dustin about his outing yesterday. He had a tough go of things near the dam but got into some nice fish down near Red Wing.

Dean, DeeZee and I hit pool 2 yesterday afternoon and just murdered the fish. Dean had five, yes FIVE, fish from 7 – 9 lbs himself! Pitching ringies on wingies.

    I’ll put up pics soon.

Arrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!! James, I’m so jealous! I might as well be on the river today since from this point forward I’m not going to get anything done.

Dustin and partner Tom P with a nice batch of eaters. They had several fish much bigger than this that went back to the river!I believe paddletails contributed to there success.

We fished from about from 9am to 3:30 – 4 in the afternoon. Two fish got off and no other bites. Jigging, pulling plastics, 3-waying…up by the damn, below the “Y” and a few other spots, nothing At least the sun was out. Pretty discouraging day.

Tough day for us…six fish. Didn’t even have a whole lotta “misses” either . Still had a great day…good company, 40 degrees, open water, January in Minnesota Next time.

The bite was slower for me on Wednesday than it has been on the past couple of outings. Morning started out slow, never really picked up for me and my customer. Hi-talied it out of the dam area mid morning and found some fish down yonder. Anything white was the trick for my boat. Oyster shell and plain white paddle tails along with the silver glitter(white)superdoos on white 5/16oz precision heads did all the damage on this day. Out of 24 nice sauger, plus the couple of eye’s we had nothing came on the ol’ reliable chartreuse colors

Looks like I should have locked thru to pool 2 for the evening bite with the 3 stooges . Best fish of the day for my boat on pool 4 was a fat sauger just short of 5lbs.

I was out this afternoon and just for giggles decided to see how far downriver I could go. I ended up all the way down at point-no-point where the ice-bergs started getting a little heavy. I was pitching rip-rap, dragging sand, anchored on a wingdam. Nothing… But I was out on a lake/river with my boat on January 12th in MN. Can’t beat that with a stick.

Looked like a few folks were catching saugers below the bridge just after the no-wake zone.

We managed 5 for the evening. All piggies, but yeah, I agree. The bite has slowed significantly! Even the fish we cleaned for my uncle had only 1 shad in the belly. Quite a change! Maybe the food source moved somewhat, and the saugers are following. Maybe we need more clouds again!
