Just wanted to update the guys that might be thinking of heading for Toolsboro landing. Went down this morning and chopped, pushed, cussed, and chopped and pushed some more and got the ice cleaned off the ramp and what was jammed out for about 20ft.
All for nothing though. The wind proceeded to blow more ice back in on it. Some guys are getting in at New Boston. Now if the wind changes direction, they will have the same trouble. If it doesn’t freeze too hard you may be able to bust out with your boats and trailers.
Just remember to please drain off at the waters edge. I’m running out of ice melt. Thanks.
Will try to keep up on the situation till the HARD FREEZE that’s coming in next week.

Got about 12ft. of fresh packed ice in front of the ramps. If you come down, bring hip boots and a spud bar.

    Sounds like a deal buddy.
Just in case anyone is interested, Toolsboro ramp is open again. Wasn’t any ice running down either. And to think I covered and put the boat away for the winter—-well, maybe—.

I would say let’s go out and get one taken, but the river’s locked up pretty tight at toolsboro now.
You know, with right equipment we could take that picture of ecnook on the front page and make a couple changes and—-and–never mind!

Herb, you are right, with the right equipment you can take that pic of ecnook and make changes to it. Makes a guy wonder what pic is closer to the truth.

Just got back from looking over Toolsboro landing and look was all I did! River is open from about 1/2 mile south of the ramp all the way up to the dam now. The guys from Ill. cannot get up there yet but that could change from one hour to the next.
As I write this the ramps are not useable. Sometime during sunday or monday as the ice was moving out, it pushed a lot of ice onto the ramps and along with the ice it pulled a few large chuncks of riprap onto the ramps too. If someone from the area reads this and has access to a backhoe, feel free to go to work on it. But please, don’t push those chunks of rock into the water. Pull them off to the side or put them back on the bank. Hate to see someone find them with their motor when they are loading or unloading.
    Thanks
