This friday january 6th,approxamately 9am,your help is being requested to assist with a ongoing sauger mortality study conducted by John Hoxmeier,Lake specialist with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.Specifically volunteers will be asked to catch saugers in 30 plus ft of water and transported to a holding cage.More specific info will be available at the resort on friday.John has also headed up another study by tagging fish and tracking there movements this past week,it has been very informative and interesting to see how these fish move.Your help this friday will be much appreciated and hopefully educational as well!

That’s all the justification I need to take a day off and head to P4.

I saw that MN-DNR boat last week below the dam with an antenna dipped down into the water. I assumed they were doing a radio tracking survey of some sort, but for some reason I had convinced myself it was a sturgeon survey.

How many boats can you get in the 30 fow area? Just curious if it will be bumber boats or not. I wouldn’t mind coming up for a little Pool 4 fishing

Your observation is correct, but as I posted earlier, these pics are from a seperate study this past week for tracking purposes. This friday will be exclusively saugers, and will be put in a cage under water.

There will be plenty of spots to fish at that depth to avoid bumper-boats,no worry there.More details available from John Friday morning.

And yes Riverfan, just show up,they plan on being on the water at about 9am,they will be in a large jon-boat with Mn tags.
