Wisconsin Channel Landing – Conditions

I just drove back from Red Wing and went past the WI channel landing. There’s an pretty wide ice shelf from the ramp out into the channel. Maybe a good 30′ or so. I can’t comment on the thickness of the ice there as I didn’t have the shoes for doing the old “ice stomp” to check. A guy with a small rig could slide out to the open water; larger rigs would find using this access dicey at best.

Just a heads up for those coming over this weekend.

Sounds like everyone should stay away from P4 this weekend!

Ok, ok, so Evert’s might be an option…

I have a buddy who ripped off his transducers on a 16′ Lund using this landing on the ice. Play it safe and go see Dean at Everts.

I did just do a check on the ramps at Everts. They are, of course, in tip-top shape even today after all the cold weather. Dean did say not one boat was brave enough to go out today.

The fish should be plenty rested up and waiting for all of us after this cold snap. There’s been little to NO traffic for nearly a week now.

Lightly pressured fishies + warm weather = GOBS o’ FUN!

I see the flow has dropped a chunk. Time to start dragging ringies up shallow mid-day after the shallow pitching bite peeters out early and late.

Thanks for the info. AM I a fool to ask if there are other ramps open or available?

I am hoping for an escape onto the river soon as well.

    Thanks again

There were a couple of boats using the wisconsin channel landing on sunday in case people are wondering if it is open.
