Pool 2 wens.

Got back on the water today. You guys missed a nice on out there today. Big Northern and I had the airport to ourselves. The eyes where there to. Picked up a nice cat right away. a little over 10#. Picked up a 27″ eye a couple drifts later. Big fat belly on this one. It must have been over 9 pounds i guess. This is my best for the year and made for a great afternoon of fishing. I did get some pictures on a disposable camera that has been in my boat since opener. I hope they will turn out.
Caught about 30 other eyes/saugers also today. All on plastics. Third trip for my bucket of minnows. Still only been into it 4 times. Any offers on a slitely used bucket of minnows. The tubes for today where the purple eye tube 2″. White glow eye tube 4″ and a 4″ storm rattle tube, gray specked.
Now I am wondering how some of those smaller fish can get a 4″ tube down its throught when all you feel is a tick on the line. Same thing goes with the ringworms. About half of the fish I caught today had only the jig head sticking out of there mouths.

What was your best depth for drifts up there?

Thanks for sharing your report. I plan to be on the water all this weekend if my plans fall through for my LOTW trip. This weekend looks to favor mid 20’s for highs for the river.

It was indeed a great day to be at the airport, my first time there. My timing was good because when I pulled up there was only one boat there-MikeW. I got advice, conversation, and even a few tube jigs that put a couple in my boat. I have to say I got way outfished but it seems rivermen aren’t the competative type so who’s counting? Thanks again for the tubes and the scoop on the airport spot. I tried the Ford dam first but one hour only gave me one teeny.
