I’ve heard rumors that the ice is almost ready to go near Lansing? Anybody care to confirm this and save me a long drive? Any information you can give would be helpful. Thanks.

Going to do some checking this morning but as of yesterday the north end of cold springs had just froze and the south end was about half covered so I would wait a day or two.Keep the boat out cause you can still get sauger and eyes.

Thanks Len. We’ll be headed that way sometime this weekend if the wives will let us get away.

Just got back from up that way. Saw one guy venture out on a little pond south of the dam at Genoa, Desoto Bay still had a few open areas but for the most part, it was covered with ice, saw a few huts on Mule just north and west of the Winneshiek boat ramp. Must have gone over to it by boat cause the shute along that part of the dike was open. The lower half of Cold Springs was still mostly open and Spring Lake was mostly froze over. This is all from today-Sunday. Please be carefull. First ice and last ice is your best fishing, but make sure it’s good ice.
