With the high water and my usual boat landing under water my six year old and I decided to fish the Upper Iowa river from the bank, this was about 2 miles upstream from the channel. I figured this could easily be as productive as the old Miss right now. Well here is a short recap.
Hey I got a big fish! Nope, Sorry Dad, It’s a snag! That’s ok, bring me your pole. Hmmmm, feels a little odd, as I carefully watch the line. Hey get back here you gotta fish on, and it’s pretty big. Now the fight is on, he’s work’n the trusty Zebco 404 like a
Veteran, but the fish just won’t show itself. I’m thinking foul hooked carp perhaps? After a short while, he has him worked into some shallow water and the fish rolls to the surface. Hey, bud you gotta walleye on there and it’s a beauty, don’t loose him now. The Cotton Cordell Wiggle “O” Stream Craw Bug (I just had to add that) had a good hold, and we slide him up in the shallow water. And here ya go. The little guy’s first 25+ walleye came in @ 5lbs 8oz
(if the pic will post)
(root beer for him of course.)
