No one is talking about pool 2 anymore. I see people out fishing must not be much to talk about. Put in at lillydale again today and headed up stream to the dam. Caught a few small eyes at the dam. More smallies than eyes. Found fish on one other small current break by the marina. Put four eyes in the boat on the first drift but then tryed to anchor on it and ended up dragging it across the bottom there. Not good for shallow water. Did put two decent eyes in the boat. A 20 and a 18 on that spot.
How did down by the airport do this weekend? With the lower water levels I would think the fish should be back on them.
Will have to try again next weekend.

    Good luck fishing.

Jon J and I launched at 494 Saturday morning for some lower Pool 2 action. We started with some wing dam cranking which resulted in some smaller walleyes and sauger. After that we moved up to the airport to check it out. The current was pretty swift but we tried the main channel with jigs and minnows. Nothing to show for it. Tried a couple of the wing dams which were quiet also. We moved downstream to try a few spots and found a few fish including some whities and a northern. Went back up to the airport and made a couple of passes with 3-ways and cranks. Only fish was an aquarium size channel cat.
It turned out to be a decent day with 7 hours on the water.

    Mike,

With the higher water present on Pool 2, I have escaped and went to Mille Lacs for the past week intermittantly. I will be back on Pool 2 starting this week for the rest of the fall. I should have more info to post later in the week. I will be targeting some backwaters for now until the water levels come down a little and then the wing dams should pick up pretty good…..

Look to the airport area and the Miss/Mn River confluence to start showing some fish as well.

I was on upper Pool 2 Sunday morning for a about 4 hours, I did more exploring than fishing. I did set hooks into a nice eye in the Watergate Marina though. She looked to be about 24 inches or so. I got one look and she was gone.

Mike, I think I met you at the access based on the report you posted and the info you gave me as we were heading out. I just wanted to let you know how we did. 10 walleyes and two smallies. Mostly little sizzlers, our biggest was 18 inches. We missed a fair number also as the bite was particularly light. We caught most of the fish on the lock side of the dam right next to the yellow pier.
Thanks again for the extra minnows sad to say we did not need them.

Sounds like me. Lots of small fish up by the dam. I enjoyed checking out the current breaks on the way back down river. Caught no fish on most of them but then hit one they where on. Bigger fish also. Doesn’t pay to stay in one spot this time of year unless you are really on them.

Sounds like the evening bite might be a better one than the morning bite. I think I will try it next time I get down there. Maybe even after dark a little.
Wont make it back down there this weekend. Planning on doing Aitkin on Sat. and Taylors falls on sunday. Might get back to pool 2 next week some time.
    Good luck fishing

The bite after dark is starting to take shape again. Look for some bigger fish to roam real shallow. Had some nicer fish the other night on hair and plastics. I will post a report this weekend.

The sealegs will be back on pool 2 Sunday unless it gets gusty out there. any insight in the next two days would be appreciated. Isn’t the Hidden Falls Access supposed to be open by Sunday? I thought I saw a flyer stating Nov. 3rd.
