Although guiding this last couple days has been miserable because of the very high, weedy, muddy water, some folks that have ventured out have been rewarded. I guess now I have heard or seen three fish just under or over 12 lbs caught and right around 30 fish in the 6-9 lb range,(several on the end of my rod),and many fish from 3-6 lbs,(even a couple of fish that were either nearly all sauger or maybe ????saugeye),and when you find them quite good numbers(scattered all over the place). I told Len, and Jerry Boardman yesterday that the hardest part about the whole deal is that they are mostly not in the places I expect fall, very high water fish to be. I still have not caught a single fish in flooded timber and most are in an area of reasonable current. There is no use to give you details on techniques, or patterns or even locations, because I hardly ever remember so much movement and absolutely no preference for technique or bait. Lawrence

Thanks for the report Lawrence. I thought the high water was keeping anyone from trying their luck. I know Len has been busy at the Falling Rock and I’ve been looking for a report. I won’t be able to make it over there for a couple of weeks but I like to hear how it’s going. Thanks again,JD

Len and I have been comparing notes a little and I’m sure both of us will have some more detailed info when our guys are done with the Championship. Some definite patterns are emerging. Lawrence

Check out the FTR Tournament Forum for the results of the MWC Championship on the Mississippi River. The fisherman had fun and so did Ecnook and I.

Sorry I missed you guys down there. I only showed up Thursday didn’t feel the best on Friday and Saturday.
Nice picture though I took a few , too. Don’t know if any of you folks know those two guys personally, but it was a pleasure even under crapy river conditions spending a couple of days with them. Lawrence

So Mountain Man, Has the River settled down this week or is all that snow from up north keeping the water high? More importantly, will the river be fishable by the weekend?

Lefty as a sports writer I would have thought you would have heard about the nice fish being caught over the last three weeks and before the Mwc tourney. Like I said some folks were even rewarded during the high muddy water. Lawrence

I’m a bad guy to ask the rest of the fall. I won’t be doing much fishing until next doctor appointment in first week of November, and I have resheduled my guide trips till next spring. I was going to
grab some seat time in some friends boats but I think I’ll just take it easy instead. Give us a report if you come up. Lawrence
