    Caught this one trolling a #5 shad rap right in front of the docks at Evert’s Resort. Fish was CPR’d and released after nearly being killed during struggle to fight upstream. I had nearly 300 feet of line out on it at one time and ended up grounded on Glen’s rock before I finally got it in. Thanks to Steve Vicks for picture – wish I looked as good as the fish – LOL. Also a big thanks to Steve for his surgical skills. This fish made one big flop after getting it into boat and embedded two hooks of a treble in my fingers. Steve had to cut hooks for me and push the rest of the way through – ouch!

    Great fish. What is your estimate for length and weight? How is your finger doing?

    This fish measured just a touch over 29″ and weighed 8.8 lbs (as measured on digital you can see laying on my dash)

    Also both fingers are just fine – 4 tiny scars – never even bled much. An excellent case to argue the value of clean and sharp hooks – luckily it was a brand new just out of the box crankbait – clean cuts – no infections

    Nice fish! I’m tempted to sell my boat and take up dock fishing. I’ve been all over that river and have yet to catch one that big.

    Never ignore that run past Evert’s – That was second real nice fish there in just a couple of weeks. I had a pretty incredible two week stretch catching quite a few very nice fish – several of which came from spots very few if any others bothered to check

    Looks like the one I let go about a month ago in front of everts. Caught it 100 feet north of the ramps. Caught nine small ones in front of everts Friday 3 waying. The majority were caught with a gold spinner and 4 beads.

    Funny how it goes with that spot.It has been my experience several times that you catch one or two that measure but mostly very short fish there and then all of a sudden there’s a good one! Makes me wonder if those really big ones aren’t cannibals coming in and chowing on the dink walleyes there on occasion. have to ask Dustin about that one, I know he has popped a big one there a few times – catch much for others that measure there?
