I am looking at purchasing a new graph and would welcome any feedback. I was looking at the Garmin 240 w/ speed and temp. I was also looking at a used globalmap 180 for a gps unit. Has anyone had any experience with either of these units? Would any of you suggest anything else. I am on a budget since the wife is expecting number two. Thanks for your thoughts.

I have been using a Garmin 240 this year and have been very satisfied. It is user friendly, easy to install, and has decent resolution. I did not install the speed sensor as I had other speed indicators on the boat.

It’s a great unit, especially for the money compared to the price of some units that offer the same picture quality and power. Just to give you an idea, the 240 is selling for $279.00, the X91 is selling for $450.00.

Suzuki bought one this spring for his boat and has good luck the last time I talked to him about it. Send him a private and ask for his opinion.

    Good luck!!

I also have a 240 with speed and temp, and I have been very happy with it. I posted about this same question last year and Hougie recommended the Garmin. I know it has helped me catch more fish than my old unit. Very easy to operate, good definition. For the money I don’t think you could go wrong!

James and I had the pleasure of meeting with Chris Cintron from Garmin at the RCL Championship this last weekend. We got a tutorial of the new Garmin units, including the new 188! This unit is absolutely awesome! it has split screen capabilities for GPS and Sonar that are sooooo fast, it will make yor head spin! While moving the cursor, the pages update lightning fast. We are going to be doing a product review on the Garmin products here shortly, stay tuned…..
