We got out a bit late in the afternoon and decided that we would concentrate on some smallmouth bass. This proved to be a decent choice. We found some active fish with the largest a bit over 2lbs. Throw in some silvers for added action and it was a fun couple of hours. We threw a variety of small cranks with the best one being a Rebel crawfish. Too bad it was not on my rod. I don’t have any of these but I bet I will after a shopping trip tomorrow. There was quite a bit of debris in the water which hampered our casting a bit. Lots of weeds and other trash to deal with.
We saw Dee Zee at the ramp as we came off at dark.. It sounded like they had a decent afternoon on some walleyes.

Mike W. and I fished pool 2 this morning, 7:30-12:30 and had a great mixed bag of fun. Mike was the cat-man today, he boated one flathead that would have weighed around 20-21 lbs, and one channel that was around 10-12 lbs. We had lots of walleyes 12 to 15 inches, and several smaller sauger. We got into a nest of very large white bass, several in the 14 – 16 inch area, and of course the ever present sheepies (bah bah bass). All in all, had a good trip and the bite was constant, we were on fish all morning.

    Dinosaur,

Good to see you the other night.
The wingdams have been kicking out some numbers lately with a couple nice fish showing uyp each day.

The pictures have not been showing up in my reports lately, so here is an eye that came off a wingdam midday Friday.

Nice eye Steve, what kind of crank is that that you caught it on?

    Steve,

That was a Bomber Model 5A. These cranks have worked well for me over the years on wingdams. Their bills are slightly rounded in front to “walk” around even the knarliest of rocks.

Here is a picture of fellow FTR Field Staff reporter with a nice whitie during our Friday adventure.

No problem pal, what a blast we’ve been having on pool 2. I’ll be out tomorrow and will post the results.
