What a “Beauty” How old is a fish that size ? 50 60 years maybe ? I understand it takes them a long time to get that big .

I guess all I had to do is read it. It said Pool 5 monster. Don’t believe we have them that size down hear. Although I expect a new state record next year for the species we have down here. I think the state record is about 7#6oz and three fish caught on the fishing barge last year got within ounces. I have caught giant cats and buffalo up your way so I guess that monster shouldn’t have suprised me. Thanks for not zapping me for missing the pool 5 part. What lb line and tackle? Lawrence

We caught it on a 1/8 oz jig in 5 feet of water. It surprised me being that shallow. We had 8lb Berekly Ironsilk. That stuff is tough. Especially when I treid nettting it twice. I had it in the net half way. I couldn’t pick the net up so it got back out. Then after another 1/2 I got it in the boat. It took up the whole floor.

It was a Team effort. lol. My father hooked it and I tried getting it in the boat. It was definetly a 2 man operation.
